Legacy of Europe extends from War & Peace to Crime & Punishment. Last forty years, War was in the Middle East. Peace was in Europe. Lately, the roles have changed. The Middle East is now peaceful compared to the prospects Europe is facing.
Leo Tolstoy talked about the Napoleonic Wars in Europe. Peace stayed around for 100 years in its aftermath. It happened twice before in Europe. Once, after 100, the other after 30 years of wars.
One hopes, after the Russia-Ukraine war, maybe there will be another 100-year-peace in Europe. I am not a historian but if there was War then there had to be Crime. Hence, there should be Punishment too.
JUDGEMENT TIME IN THE GLOBAL COURT OF PUBLIC OPINION
No, this judgment call has nothing to do with the Russia-Ukraine War. I am interested in the Middle East. We must first understand what the Crime was there.
In that respect, why was there War in the Middle East for the last forty years? Then, how come Peace relatively replaced War in the Middle East?
The paradox can be best explained with Turkiye in the picture. It is the only country that is both in Europe and the Middle East.
Ironically, it is also the country that faced War and now imposing Peace in the Middle East. Soon, it will also have a say on Crime & Punishment there.
War & Peace to Crime & Punishment
In The Middle East
There was War in Turkiye last forty years. It involved armed militia, natural resources, and abrupt regime changes. Turkiye nowadays loudly claims that Europe was behind them. In other words, now, Turkiye talks about Crime & Punishment.
The War in the rest of the Middle East was equally vicious and bloody. From the Iraq War to the Arab Spring, the West was there in full force all throughout. Now that the West is not there, Peace seems to be spreading in the entire region.
