Revisiting America's Türkiye Dilemma
Türkiye summoned Anthony Blinken to Ankara. US Secretary of State obliged in a hurry. Reportedly, he was denigrated there before being sent home to the White House with a "diplomatic note".
In his second visit to Türkiye since 7 October, Blinken got even worse treatment. On the first visit, the deputy governor of Ankara was the only one waiting on the tarmac. In the ensuing trip, not even the deputy was there. He must have had more important things than to attend Blinken’s arrival. Revisiting America’s Türkiye dilemma is a tale of an American tragedy.
Imagine the Secretary of State of the sole superpower of Planet Earth visiting a “staunch” ally! Imagine no one was at the tarmac to greet except the US Ambassador to Türkiye Jeffry Flake!
However, that is not the worst of it. Secretary goes back home as fast with a “diplomatic note” in hand. The “note”, on top, is nothing less than the last warning to America.
DIPLOMATIC NOTE
According to the all Non-Reliable-Google:
A diplomatic note is a formal means of communication between countries. It is used to convey messages, requests, and concerns between governments. Diplomatic notes are usually exchanged through diplomatic channels, which are secure and confidential.
They can be used to communicate about a wide range of issues, from routine matters to sensitive topics such as territorial disputes, human rights violations, and trade agreements.
Diplomatic notes can be categorized into letters and notes, and they follow several widely observed customs and styles in composition, substance, presentation, and delivery.
Letters are typically used for the appointment and recall of ambassadors, for the announcement of the death of a sovereign or an accession to the throne, or for expressions of congratulations or condolence.
Notes, on the other hand, are used for other types of communication, such as requests for information, protests, and complaints.
Diplomatic notes are an important tool for maintaining peaceful and constructive relationships between countries, and they should be used with care and respect.
Revisiting America’s Türkiye Dilemma
First of all, it is not within norms for Türkiye to give a “diplomatic note” to the USA. Never mind Türkiye would “summon” the US Secretary of State! After all, they are “staunch” allies. Why would there be a need for a “summon” and a “note” on top of it?
The “note” alone indicates more than a friction in the relationship. Yet for Türkiye, the lesser power, to give the note to the superpower is also incomprehensible. Such a “note” will have consequences. It can be construed like a declaration of war between enemies. Does it mean anything less between allies?
Nevertheless, since the “note” is already delivered, there is no turning back. One side, now, has to back down or there will be a showdown. This is as severe as it sounds. Could there be a military clash between allies? More important question: Can anyone imagine which one of these two allies need the other the most, nowadays?
The Turkish Message
The meeting between the US Secretary State Anthony Blinken and the Foreign Minister of Türkiye lasted two hours. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan presided over their meeting. However, Fidan delivered the note to Blinken, while Erdogan was stoic.
This process could not have been more formal or stressful or embarrassing for Blinken. Thus, what transpired cannot be interpreted as anything short of end of relationship. However, that was not all. Türkiye also put salt to the wound!
While the Secretary attended this meeting in the company of the US Ambassador to Ankara, something even more pointed took place. Türkiye bombed northern Iraq and Syria. The target was the rogue US proxies in Asos and Kandil in northern Iraq.
Did the Turkish message mean to say: Next would be the US bases in the region?
The Message to the US Legislators
With the bombing raid, Türkiye sent a further message to the US legislators. The raid was done solely with F-4s.
What was the message?
Türkiye does not need F-16s or F-35s to do the job.
Currently, Türkiye has more than 200 F-4s. Each carries 8.5-ton bombs. F-4s may be out of commission in the US but Türkiye modernized them well.
In other words, the message to the US legislators: Türkiye does not need the US. At this stage, a question requires an answer.
If Türkiye can devastate what the US built there in the past 40 years with mere F-4s, what else does Türkiye have in store for the US?
Unfortunately, the US has no clue. They range from the Turkish dominance in electronic warfare to air supremacy in the region.
Revisiting America’s Türkiye Dilemma
I am no fan of Democrats or Globalists. However, the US does not deserve such humiliation. We do not need our Secretary of State running around helpless.
Türkiye, on the other hand, is standing tall, demanding respect and independence from the Western yoke. The least we can do is to collaborate with our “staunch” ally.
The Difference Between Biden and Trump
First two years of the Trump Administration, the relationship with Türkiye was acrimonious. However, by 2019, Türkiye and the US were on the same page. They were working on the differences.
The Biden Administration also began the journey with Türkiye combatively. Türkiye not only put up with the superpower US, but it was also able to humiliate Biden in the 2022 and 2023 NATO Summits.
Yet, since 7 October, the image of the US entered into an even speedier downward vortex. So much so, Türkiye warned the US twice already. Yet, unlike Trump, Biden still does not seem to get the severity of these warnings.
Worst is yet to Come for America.
November 2024 elections may not come soon enough to save the US. Now that Türkiye gave this “note” America has to put up or shut up. Unfortunately, no one can tell which one would now be worse option for America.
I authored GameChanger, published in the USA and Australia in 2020. I argued that Türkiye will play a Zero-Sum Game in the region. I also picked northern Iraq and Syria as the locations. This note validates them.
Revisiting America’s Türkiye Dilemma
In case someone in Wash DC or for that matter in Israel still did not get it: If some US “neocons” wish to have war, there will be a war. However, this will not take place in the Gaza Strip. It will also not take place in Iraq or Syria.
Recently, I also wrote about “Misak-i Milli”. In summary, it means, Türkiye is, now, in a position to correct the wrongs of the last century in this century. Why should the US be the one that would face the fury of Türkiye?
The answer is simple: We have inept leaders in Wash DC since 6 January 2021.
