KAAN in 2 F-35 in 22
Türkiye built the fifth-generation fighter in 2 years. America could not make its own version F-35 fly well in 22 years. No, it is not a joke! In fact, it is an American tragedy.
Türkiye ventured to build an aircraft only about a decade ago. Up until then, there was a short-lived experiment in 1936. Now, KAAN in 2 F-35 in 22 is the stark contrast between Türkiye and America. One did in 2 years. The other could not do well in 22.
THE US F-35
“The US aircraft F-35 descends from the Lockheed Martin X-35. In 2001, it beat the Boeing X-32 to win the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program.
Its development is principally funded by the United States. Additional funding came from the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Italy, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands and Türkiye.”
The US Senators kicked Türkiye out of the program in December 2020. By then, several countries had ordered or was considering ordering the aircraft.
“The ballooning costs, and delayed deliveries” aside, Türkiye’s dismissal was a fatal blow to the program. Today, the fate of the US F-35 is in oblivion to say the least.

KAAN is put together in two years.
That includes mounting the engine that made the maiden flight possible.
First of all, it is a record from a country that has no history of building aircrafts. The US with hundreds of thousands built could not fly the F-35 well in 22 years.
Second, Türkiye did not acquire any parts of this aircraft from another country. For example, the US, Russia, China, and S. Korea were not self-sufficient.
Third, reportedly, Türkiye’s fifth generation is more advanced than its competitors. In particular, it has unique features that the US F-35 but also the F-22 Raptor do not.
Britain
Reportedly, the British Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces visited the KAAN project in 2018. It was in an assembly line in the hangar. Commander had information that the assembly will finish by 2028. Maiden flight will come years after that.
When KAAN rolled out of the hangar in May 2023, Brits thought it was a gimmick. The roll-out came only two months after Türkiye suffered a devastating earthquake. Yet, 10 months later, KAAN made its maiden flight without a hitch.
The US
When the US Senators kicked Türkiye out of the F-35 program in December 2020, what were they thinking? They must have been getting the same “intelligence reports”. No one must have thought Türkiye will fly KAAN in 3 years.
I had a private conversation with a four star and one of the most decorated US generals. At the time, when I told him that CAATSA 231 was a mistake, he quickly ended our friendly get together. I wonder what he is thinking at this time.
Russia
Was Russia surprised about KAAN’s flight? The fact that Russians are in Türkiye already and negotiating collaboration, should give a hint. Have the Russians offered to work on a new engine for KAAN or a joint “Sixth Generation Fighter”?
Russia built the first ever nuclear power plant in Türkiye. Much like when the entire Western Alliance refused to provide any nuclear or military technology to Türkiye. So, why would not Russia and Türkiye collaborate now?
The Rest
China and South Korea should be happier about the Turkish progress. Their latest aircrafts will never be a fifth generation without Turkish technology. Now, Türkiye will have more proven technologies to share with them.
Israel and Greece cannot be happy at all. Considering they lately have regimes in power that do not get along well with Türkiye. How will they counter a superior and indigenous KAAN with much maligned US or French fighters?
Germany, France, and Japan make a mix bag. Turkish-Japanese relationships have never been acrimonious. They have room for collaboration. The same cannot be said for Germany and even less to nothing for France.

How Tables Turned Around
Türkiye used to buy all major military platforms, mainly from the US and Germany. Especially since the 1990s, they have both been snubbing Türkiye on all military technology transfers.
As a result, Türkiye initially turned to the East. The collaboration with China and Russia were important. Soon after, Türkiye quickly figured how to make everything indigenously: But also, with German quality at Chinese prices.
In the 2020s, Türkiye is not what it used to be in the 1990s. It is not even what it used to be a decade ago. Hundreds of Turkish military technologies are in mass production. Plus, there is that Turkish know-how that is out of this world.
Turkish Technologies
Some of the Turkish military technologies are in the public domain. A lot of others are speculative. Radars, stealth, ordinances, and electronic warfare are some of them.
Could Turkish radars have twice as much range as the most advanced US radars? Reportedly, “they can see without being seen, but also hit without being hit!”
Not much is known about the Turkish stealth particularities. However, the F-35 and F-22 are reportedly not stealth enough anymore compared to what KAAN has.
In ordinances, Türkiye has long established its supremacy. “SOM-J” stands alone at range and sophistication. The European “Meteors” are also now second best.
Regarding the Turkish electronic warfare capabilities, the state-of-the-art French frigate was dead in water only four years ago. Can KAAN now do the same in the air?
Turkish Know-How
Simply put, the known facts are scary. Some Turkish military technologies are proven and they are out of this world. Yet, none of it explains what the Turkish know-how is!
Türkiye began the design of KAAN in 2018. Mock-up was for the Paris air show in 2019. By 2023, it was roaring on the tarmac. 10 months later, it was in the air.
Yet, there is more to it. Mind you, “foreign agents”, especially from the West, tried to sabotage the program. So, what is the Turkish know-how against their effort as well?
It is important to note that KAAN is not an exception. It is only the last piece of the puzzle. Türkiye has tons of exclusive military technologies complementing major indigenous military platforms. They are everywhere on the ground, at sea, undersea, and in space too.

How Exactly?
Maybe hard work pays off. Like it used to be in the USA, in the 1930s. The US built 300 thousand aircraft in a short period of time. Now it cannot do well w/1 in 22 years.
Maybe we have too many entitled Americans that believe Globalism delivers. So, they don’t have to labor like slaves, not realizing they are long being enslaved by Globalism.
