In the 20th century, America was behind three countries in the Middle East in pursuit of wealth and power. Two had oil. The third was a Judeo-Christian anchor in the Muslim Sea. That is how it became a superpower. For Israel: Time for new-narrative after 70 years must follow the same path like America in order to achieve greater wealth and power.

RELIGION AND STATEHOOD DO NOT MIX: DOES IT?

Since 1649, there have been nation-states. They separate powers of state and religion. Since then, states are supposed to have national interests not religious biases.

Like Israel, today 80 of the 199 countries have a state religion. 27 of these countries are in the Middle East and northern half of Africa. They are Islamic states. England, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Malta, Monaco, Norway, Serbia are Christian states in Europe.

America and the rest of the major powers of the world do not mix religion and statehood. Turkiye also does not have a state religion. It is the dominant economic and military power in the region. Israel, in that respect, must revisit the role of religion, considering “new-narrative”.
